Ski Club Location and Aims.
ANARE Ski Club Lodge accommodation is located at the Mt Baw Baw alpine resort village. The village consists of lodges providing mountain accommodation a restaurant/cafe and services for winter skiing and provides limited services in summer but is open for outdoor activities including walking and biking.
The ANARE Ski club aims to promote and encourage active participation in alpine activities throughout the year. To provide a family friendly environment for:
- Low cost accommodation and access to skiing facilities,
- Year round activities at Mt Baw Baw,
- Accommodation for club members, families and friends.
- Non member accommodation for visitors when the lodge is vacant.
Established in 1963 by expeditioners returning from working a year or more in Antarctica, the Ski Club lodge is about 2.5 hours drive east of Melbourne and located in the Mt Baw Baw village near the top of Mt Baw Baw above the winter snow line. Mt Baw Baw is a great place to visit summer or winter. The Village has a restaurant/cafes/bars that operate in the winter, also ski, toboggan and snow shoe hire services. On event weekends the village central restaurant/cafe/bar is open. Services are limited throughout the summer months but the mountain offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor actiivities. Ski Club Membership.
ANARE Ski Club formed in the 60’s and has operated a ski lodge at Mt Baw Baw for more than 60 years. Members of the ANARE Ski Club have lived and worked in Antarctica. Find out more about the lodge and ski club history by checking out the Club History tab. Ski Club membership is open for returned Antarctic expeditioners. ANARE Lodge Accommodation.
An alpine stay at the ANARE Lodge provides exclusive use of the lodge for non member accommodation bookings. (Member bookings may be shared). The lodge sleeps 14 and is ideal for family or social groups. Bookings are available all year subject to availability.
